The International Society of Performance Improvement (ISPI) has chosen Jack Phillips, Ph.D., Chairman of ROI Institute, to receive the prestigious Thomas F. Gilbert Award. Recipients of this award have a long history as a contributor to the field of human performance technology, made significant contributions to the knowledge base of human performance technology, and have the respect of their peers in the field.

Thomas F. Gilbert, the founder of the field of human performance technology, created the framework upon which ISPI is based. The mission of ISPI is to use evidence-based performance improvement research and practices to effect sustainable, measurable results and add value to stakeholders in the private, public, and social sectors.

โ€œIโ€™m extremely honored to receive this prestigious award,โ€ Dr. Phillips said. โ€œMany other recipients have been pioneers in the human performance movement. Iโ€™m so proud to join that list of outstanding contributors.โ€

The award will be presented by Thomas Gilbertโ€™s widow, Marilyn Gilbert, at a special ceremony on Saturday, April 7th.  This will take place at the opening of ISPIโ€™s annual conference in Seattle, Washington.

โ€œI am thrilled that Jack is receiving this award.  It is a testament to his lifeโ€™s work and the contribution he has made in the field of human performance technology.โ€ said Dr. Patti Phillips, President and CEO of ROI Institute. โ€œWe have worked closely with ISPI for many years, and our work parallels ISPIโ€™s standards of practice. Our alignment model is a human performance technology model, following the HPT standards. My book, The Bottomline on ROI, received the 2002 ISPI award for best instructional communication. That recognition along with Jackโ€™s receipt of the Gilbert Award validate the evidence-based approach of the ROI Methodology that Jack developed in the 1970s and that together we have applied across all disciplines and sectors.  I am incredibly happy for Jack.โ€
