Geneva, Switzerland and Birmingham, Alabama – Dr. Patti P. Phillips, president and CEO of ROI Institute, has been appointed to the Board of Trustees of the United Nationโ€™s Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR). This agency, founded in 1963, is designed to act as the training organization of the United Nations System.

UNITAR has been charged with enhancing the effectiveness of the UN through diplomatic training and increasing the impact of national actions though the raising of public awareness, education, and the training of public policy officials.

โ€œThis is an amazing honor for Patti to be appointed to this respected, standard-setting agency within the UN,โ€ said Dr. Jack Phillips, Chairman of ROI Institute. โ€œWe have assisted and supported the UN and various UN agencies over a period of ten years, and our work has been very valuable to the UN and the clients weโ€™ve served through them.โ€

In 2008, the UN adopted the ROI Methodology as the organizationโ€™s evaluation system of choice. Since then, this process has been implemented in 17 agencies with additional implementations planned for the future. The goal of the use of the ROI Methodology in the UN is to make the organization more efficient and effective as it delivers programs. In addition to conducting and assisting with impact and ROI studies, ROI Institute has been involved in the massive capability development process of training more than one thousand evaluators and even larger numbers of project and program managers.

โ€œPatti is an ideal person to place on this prominent board,โ€ Phillips added. โ€œShe not only brings to it a tremendous base of experience and expertise in measurement and evaluation, but also a working knowledge of the different UN agencies. She has personally served and supported more than a dozen UN agencies in the last ten years.โ€

As this is a board of trustees and not a board of advisors, this group is responsible for the direction and success of UNITAR. Pattiโ€™s ceaseless work in advancing the ROI Methodology makes her particularly qualified for this placement.

โ€œI am honored to be appointed to this board,โ€ said Dr. Patti Phillips. โ€œUNITAR commands a high level of respect. I am grateful for the opportunity to join such an impressive group of board members, who are leaders in their respective countries.โ€
