Coaching with Consulting Projects

There are many ways that a coach can expand capability, whether it’s guidance for an impact or ROI study, forecasting ROI, aligning a project to the business need, or converting data to money. Coaching for consulting can take on a variety of projects. Under the direction of a professional ROI coach and through interactive and collaborative dialogue, your coach will initiate a series of sessions so you will stay focused, motivated, and energized to complete your consulting project.

The most common coaching project is guiding an individual through an ROI study. This process may range from planning the initial study to presenting the results. The coach assists, encourages, prompts, and advises through the entire process.

Many organizations have projects that need to be connected to the business need. A coach is often needed to complete an analysis for alignment. This process ensures that the project is aligned to the business need and that the proper solution has been identified and refined to meet the business need. This process also sets up the project for the next step, which is writing objectives for all levels.

Some organizations want an ROI calculation for a single program, which is repeated often. This is an automated process, usually created to forecast the ROI in advance of program design, development, and implementation. Coaching for the development of an ROI calculator could be between 8-16 hours, depending on the complexity of the program.

Another project is converting data into money. This focuses on the hard-to-value measures and how can we best convert those measures to monetary value when evaluating a project. This would be pursued only if the organization is interested in investing additional time to have this monetary value.

Often, it is beneficial to forecast the ROI before a project begins. This usually involves only a few hours and will help the person being coached to see the value of the project at the impact and ROI level before it is implemented or approved. As part of forecasting ROI, coaching could be used to set the objectives and follow-through of the ROI calculation in the necessary time frame.

Finally, a coach may be provided to prepare individuals and organizations to implement ROI. This is behind-the-scenes coaching, setting strategy before the ROI implementation begins, as well as the follow-up to provide insight into how to make adjustments, based on progress and feedback.

Making Coaching Work

Pricing

Because of the personalized services, your ROI coach will provide, the pricing may vary. The investment in coaching for ROI Certification will be the same amount as the public certification fee. For example, if you invested $3,995 for ROI Certification, you would invest that same amount for your coach. Deviations from this pricing are possible in special instances but must be approved by ROI Institute. To keep the coaching process transparent and honest, your coach will not be eligible to approve your final ROI project for certification. Instead, your final study will be reviewed and potentially approved by ROI Institute’s Director of Consulting Services. For consulting projects, the coaching will be priced at an agreed hourly rate. Coaching is provided until the project is completed. The coach will provide an estimate of the number of hours involved in the project.

Getting Started With your Coach

The Director of Consulting Services for ROI Institute will assess your individual needs and objectives for your project and assign the coach best suited for your situation. ROI Institute’s management team will track each step of the coaching process, from invoicing your investment to the completion of your project. ROI Institute will also conduct periodic meetings with you and your coach to ensure the process is working for both of you and that you are making the appropriate progress with your project. These check-ins may involve a short survey measuring reaction, learning, and application from the coaching process, and private interviews if desired. This step will guarantee satisfaction with the process, making any adjustments deemed necessary for improvement and efficiency.
