The ROI Certification process continues to grow to enable organizations to build capability for serious evaluation. This process, which has beginnings in December of 1995, is in high demand these days, with a record number of ROI Certifications occurring within the last three months. Of those, 30 percent were open enrollment and the rest were internal โ€“ that means that about 70 percent of the ROI Certifications are internal, just for the organizationโ€™s team members.

The advantage of the internal certification is that all of the discussions, information, and conversations are protected, as there may be sensitive information not appropriate for public audiences. Also, this allows the group to focus on the projects they want to be evaluated. Lastly, an internal certification builds a cohesive team to focus on ROI implementation. When designed properly, the workshop can yield an implementation plan that is needed for sustaining the use of this methodology.

โ€œWeโ€™ve been seeing this trend evolving for some time,โ€ said Dr. Jack Phillips, Chairman of ROI Institute. โ€œInternally, a team of professionals are usually working on this process, and an internal workshop is more appropriate. This is an efficient way to gain capability and begin to quickly connect programs and projects to business measures.โ€

โ€œAll types of organizations offer certification internally, particularly larger organizations in need of a large-scale implementation is needed,โ€ Dr. Patti Phillips, President and CEO of ROI Institute, said. โ€œSome organizations will train all team members in a particular function with the two-day workshop and then add three more days for those who are taking a more active role in ROI implementation. This gets everyone aligned to be focused on business, ensuring that everyone connected understand why this is needed, as well as their role in the process to make it successful.โ€
