Show the Value of What You Do:
Building Internal ROI Capability

August 17, 2023
Noon to 1:00 pm CDT

Globally, more than 9,000 organizations have implemented the ROI Methodology® to show the value of all types of projects and programs. This methodology is now the most used evaluation system in the world, as it brings credible, conservative, and convincing data about the success of projects and programs.

Current Situation

With the current economic uncertainties and funding sources beginning to diminish, evaluating which programs add value and which do not is necessary. Those not adding value need to be adjusted and changed so that they do. Or, in the worst case, if it is the wrong solution for the business need, it must be discontinued. Even the programs adding value now can add more if adjustments are made to improve them. The ROI Methodology is the only system that can effectively tackle this challenge with credibility.

Possible Approaches

There are several ways that the ROI Methodology can be implemented. Some organizations prefer ROI Institute to conduct evaluation studies to show the value of their projects and programs. In some cases, we complete the evaluation together with the organizations. Our preferred method is to teach individuals in the organizations to make this successful. But to do so, it requires changing how projects and programs are implemented. They should begin with the end in mind with specific business measures, validate that the program is the right solution, and be designed for the needed success. In essence, the entire team has a role in making this successful, and the best way to implement this methodology is with internal skill building through ROI Certification.

Objectives

This session will describe how the internal ROI Certification process works, why it is needed, what benefits it will provide you, and how all types of organizations have made a difference using this methodology. After attending this session, individuals will be able to:

  • Identify the five levels of outcomes that any project or program will deliver.
  • Identify the principal benefits of using the ROI Methodology.
  • Identify the best strategy for building ROI capability in your organization.

Using examples, case studies, and exercises, this session will help you learn more about how to make your projects and program more effective and efficient. Each participant will receive a copy of the new book, Show the Value of What You Do (Berrett-Koehler, 2022), by Patti and Jack Phillips, along with the presentation slides and a handout.
